Contributors are a vital part of Red Bird Theatre.

In the spring of 2015, founding Managing Director, Michelle Hernick, and I shook on it and submitted our first grant application.  I’d been thinking about a company for a long time, so I knew who I wanted to work with and what kind of work I wanted to do – but I didn’t have a name.  In the draft of the grant application I’d written an “X” in every place the company name should have been.  The day before it was due I landed on Red Bird Theatre.

I love cardinals – they stand out, they’re hearty, they have a beautiful song – and they can fly.  Those were qualities I wanted a theatre company to emulate.

To stand out for the quality of our work.

To be hearty enough to weather tough times.

To make work that sings – that reaches out, connects, moves and touches audiences.

YOU make us fly.

The support of folks like you has allowed us to produce two cardinal-worthy productions.   This season we are excited to bring Tony Kushner’s timely A Bright Room Called Day to the stage.

Please consider making a contribution to help us raise the remaining $13,000 of our $23,000 budget.  Whether you’ve been with us from the get-go, or our relationship is just beginning, thank you!

“Red Bird Theatre gives the play as fine a mounting as you are likely to see, and true to its values, shows utmost respect for the material, the skills of its highly talented cast and crew, and for the audience’s capacity to absorb meaning and emotive power from this work.”
